Malmö Arab Film Festival unveils the official poster of its eleventh edition
Malmö Arab Film Festival (MAFF) has revealed the official poster for its eleventh edition, taking place between April 6th and 11th.
The poster displays two cinema seats prepared to watch a movie on a screen, in a way that makes the shadows of the two seats draw the number “11”, while we notice that the screen is in the smartphone shape, referring to the special edition in which the festival will launch its new viewing platform “MAFF Play”, the initiative will see that the films reach the Swedish audience, despite the situation of the Corona pandemic and its impact on the organization of traditional screenings.
This year MAFF changes its annual dates to new ones in April, we will organize an edition, in which films will be screened simultaneously virtually on “MAFF Play” platform, and physically in Panora cinema, with the maximum number of audience allowed by the Swedish health authorities (currently 8 persons per show). As for the festival’s activities, including seminars and panel discussions, and the activities held on the (7-10 April). The festival will be held through the “Zoom” app.
The founder and president of the festival, Mohamed Keblawi, spoke about the poster, saying: “This is the poster for the second edition held after the Covid-19 pandemic. The team’s experience in dealing with the situation, will reflect during the edition in various details, in addition to the new MAFF Play digital platform that will play an important role in delivering Arab cinema to Sweden, not only during the festival days, but throughout the year”.
Malmö Arab Film Festival is the largest and most famous Arab film festival in Europe and the only one in the Scandinavian countries. Since its founding in 2011, MAFF took major steps towards offering a panoramic view over the Arab social and political situation and conducting constructive dialogues for both professionals and public. The festival’s goal is to be the bridge between cultures based on film as a universal visual language, capable of imitating the diversity of human dimension.
