Malmö – March 18, 2024
Malmo Arab Film Festival has revealed the program of films participating in its official competitions for its fourteenth edition, scheduled to take place between April 22nd and 28th. The program for the official competitions includes 26 films (12 feature films and 14 short films) produced by 13 Arab countries in collaboration with production partners from 10 foreign countries.
The official competition for feature films includes 12 films, while the short film competition includes 14 films. This does not include films participating in school screenings, Arabian Nights and the closing film which will be announced later in a separate press release.
Mouhamad Keblawi, Management and Artistic Consultant of Malmo Arab Film Festival, said: “With great pleasure, we aim for the festival, as usual, to attract the best and latest productions of Arab cinema, films that Swedish audiences, especially those in Malmo and Skåne, have not typically seen. We aim to engage the diverse audience of Malmö, reflecting the city’s fabric. Most selections are distinguished by being co-productions involving several countries, including Sweden, facilitated through the gateway of the Malmo Film Industry Days at the festival.”
The festival previously announced that its current edition would open with the Sudanese film “Goodbye Julia,” directed by Mohamed Kordofani, recipient of a development grant from the Industry Days at the Malmo Arab Film Festival.
