Tomorrow: Malmö Arab Film Festival 14th Edition Kicks-Off
Tomorrow, Monday, marks the start of the fourteenth edition of the Malmo Arab Film Festival, scheduled to take place from April 22nd to April 28th. This edition honors the Egyptian director Khairy Beshara and features Arab Nights screenings in several Swedish cities in addition to the Danish capital, Copenhagen.
The announced program includes 26 films (12 feature films and 14 short films) in the official competitions, produced by 13 Arab countries in partnership with 10 foreign countries. In addition to school screenings and Arab Nights.
On Monday, April 22nd, the opening ceremony begins with a red carpet at the Royal Cinema at 5:00 PM, followed by a welcoming speech by Malmo Mayor Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh.
At 6:30 PM, the opening film “Goodbye Julia” by Sudanese director Mohamed Kordofani, production between Sudan, Sweden, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and France, starring Eiman Yousif, Siran Riak, and Nazar Goma, will be screened.
The opening ceremony continues at the Malmo City Hall, where festival guests, Arab cinema stars, and jury members are welcomed at 8:00 PM by the Deputy Mayor and the Head of the Culture Committee in Malmo.
The festival also honors composer and artist Mohammed Habbash for his music for the Malmo Arab Film Festival, and graphic designer Maher Mzowak for creating the festival logo.
